This streamlined, helmet-compatible insulated jacket is also great for hiking, skiing, camping, backpacking and snowboarding--especially if you're an outdoor enthusiast who prefers technical outerwear with uncluttered simplicity. The nylon exterior of the Redpoint Optimus Jacket features a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) finish, but it's not entirely waterproof. That's because this lighter fabric is the key reason why the Redpoint Optimus Jacket is an amazingly lightweight, completely compressible and highly breathable outdoor outerwear design. This entire jacket rolls up and folds down to fit inside the internal zippered chest pocket, allowing for easy portability on the trail, road and rails. It's also ideal as a middle layer beneath a waterproof climbing or backpacking shell. The North Face utilized a seamless shoulder construction that eliminates potential pressure points beneath a backpack. The hood on the Redpoint Optimus Jacket doesn't detach, but it does have peripheral adjustment so you can tweak the fit with or without a climbing or skiing helmet.
